Working in Japan has been interesting. The workload isn't too bad; I mainly plan parties and talk to people at the English Community Zone. It's essentially Toyo's version of a language cafe but it's a lot of fun. We have a Halloween party coming up soon and we plan to have bobbing for apples and a can you guess what your touching game. Many of my Japanese co-workers are unfamiliar with what foreigners do for Halloween so I think it'll be interesting to gauge their reactions and have them play along. Although the workload isn't too strenuous I actually feel like I'm having a positive impact on the lives of the students here and that my responsibilities are a bit higher than my job back home. I've never been given a budget or anything like that and now I suddenly have to plan parties for under 10,000 yen. I really do enjoy the job though, talking with people about their days and their future goals has not only helped me practice for becoming an English teacher, but it's helped me out with making friends here. I still don't feel 100% comfortable with my Japanese yet, but I'm trying. I hope the next month will be as good as this one.
